SWRC & Kids Racing For Kids |

The Southwest Regional Cup Series is proud to announce its association and partnership with Kids Racing For Kids in 2010. Kids Racing for Kids www.krfk.org is a charitable foundation developed around helping children shelters across the nation while instilling positive values into young racers.
Go-Kart racing is the grassroots of motorsports. Tim Self, founder of KRFK, introduced his son Austin to the racing industry at a young age. Knowing that racing is a privilege that not every child gets to be a part of, Self decided to develop a program that would promote positive values into the new generation of racers while giving back at the same time.
“I started this foundation not only to give back to children in need, but also to promote positive values in kids that aren’t always learned by what they’re taught in school,” said Self. “I wanted to partner with a racing organization with exposure so we could get attention to the foundation, while bringing exposure to karting in the communities we race in.”
For 2010, the foundation is expanding its reach and Tim Glasson of Frozen Fire Films has pledged $400 to the charity for each SWRC event weekend. Our goal is for each racer to contribute some dollar amount to increase the amount that is given to the charity at the race event. There will be opportunities for each racer to donate during registration or donate at the event by contacting Tim Glasson. In addition, the leadership of the SWRC has decided that the 50/50 raffle that is conducted during the event weekend will be split between the winner of the raffle and the other half will be donated to Kids Racing For Kids so show your support when the raffle comes around.
You can also become a KRFK member. Membership is $20 and includes a hat, t-shirt and decals. Join KRFK, put the decals on your kart and become a KRFK Team Member! Membership can be purchased online or from Tim Glasson at the track. Part of the awards ceremonies this year will include the presentation of money raised to local charities. The Southwest Regional Cup looks forward to an exciting year of racing in 2010 and giving back to the communities we race in through helping local children’s charities. |

The Southwest Regional Cup Series is excited to announce a new class in 2010. The "Chonda" is a stock 4-cycle Chinese Honda clone engine. This class has proved to be very popular recently in many parts of the country as well as here in Texas and Oklahoma. The SWRC series Chonda rules allow competitors 15 years and up to compete together in one class. There are three different weights 320lbs, 360lbs & 405 lbs. The lower weights have different restictors so all weights are competitive together in one class!
Chondas can be purchased at your local Harbor Freight for $159.99 and are frequently on sale for $99 with a coupon. Be sure to also purchase a $19.99 2-year extended warranty. If your engine fails for any reason Harbor Freight will replace it with no questions asked & sell you another $19.99 2-year extended warranty for it.
So find an old chassis, buy a cheap engine and join in the fun and race with the SWRC series in a class that won't break your budget!
