SWRC 7 & 8 at GCKI, Katy, TX

Registration for the SWRC 7th and 8th rounds at GCKI in Katy, TX July 24-26 is now open. The track is open for Friday practice from 9am-6pm July 24. Schedule Change - Aug 22-23 @ OMC
The 9th and 10th rounds of the SWRC series will be hosted at Oklahoma Motorsports Complex in Norman, OK on Aug 22-23. Due to the Iron Rock Raceway track not being available in Austin it has been decided to reschedule the Oct 24-25 SWRC Austin race to the Aug 22-23 SWRC rain date.  Please mark your calendars. See the forum discussion to voice your opinion on day or night racing.

Denton Race - Combined RMax Challenge Series Race
The Denton SWRC race will be a Rotax Chalenge combined series race. Racers in both the SWRC Challenge series and the NTK/KAM Karting Challenge series will receive 10 bonus points each day towards thier Rotax National Points Standings. The Saturday and Sunday races will count as a punch in both series. Check out the Rotax National Points Standings to see how the SWRC racers compare to other Rotax drivers across the nation.
 
Rule Change - Rotax Mini Max & Micro Max
Please make note of the change in the tire rule for the Micro Max & Mini Max classes - Effective immediately Rotax Micro Max and Mini Max classes may qualify on scrubbed tires (must use same tires both days.)  All other Rotax classes must qualify on new tires on Saturday, that means no "scuffed" tires in qualifying.

Cole drove his new Alonzo kart for the first time finishing 7th on Saturday and 3rd on Sunday putting him in second place in the series points standing in the Rotax Mini Max class.

OMC TAG Masters champion Michael Lindsey attended the SWRC rounds 3 and 4 this past weekend at Oklahoma Motorsports Complex.  Michael wrote a detailed race report from his perspective which is featured in EKN's new editorial section "From the Driver's Seat". Rotax News
Don Moormester the RMax Challenge National Tech Director has issued the following directives for Mini Max and Micro Max bodywork;
  • Under NO condition may side body work protrude in excess of 1/2 inch outside outer edge of rear tires.
  • Under NO condition may rear protection protrude beyond outer edge of rear tire.
  • Under ALL conditions, rear protection must cover minimum of inside half of rear tires.

2009 Rotax Grand Nationals LogoThe location of the 2009 Grand Finals has been released with the announcement of a December 9-12 event at the Ghibli Raceway International in Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt.  This was the site of the 2003 Grand Finals.  For the first time since 2005 the US Team will be able to celebrate Thanksgiving with their families.
